Your resume is a reflection of you

Your resume is the first impression you make on an employer—it provides brief information about your skills, experience, and personal details. At the same time, it should be tailored to the position you are applying for. Include information that is relevant to the employer and don't go into detail about things that are not of interest.

List your skills

The first step is to create a list of everything related to your career goals:

  • Your professional experience, including all the tasks and functions you have performed
  • Your areas of responsibility, including any results you have achieved, if possible
  • Skills you have developed, know-how, competencies
  • Your education (basic training, further training), your diplomas, and internship certificates
  • Your language and IT skills
  • Your extracurricular activities

The resume is divided into personal details, professional experience, education, and extracurricular activities.

Marital status and personal details

Only your surname, first name(s), address, telephone number, and, if available, your email address are mandatory. There are no rules regarding family situation, age, and nationality; you decide what to include and what to leave out.

Education and training

This section should be brief. Simply state your level of education and the degree that best reflects your career goals:

  • Your further education directly related to your career goal
  • Language skills
  • Computer skills

Language skills and computer program skills are becoming increasingly important in recruitment. Take this into account by indicating your level of proficiency.

Work experience

For each position, please provide the following information:

  • Dates (most recent position first)
  • Position held
  • Name and location of the company
  • Complete this information with the following details:
  • Areas of responsibility
  • Tasks performed
  • Results achieved

Extracurricular activities

A short section that is an additional plus point on your resume. These are sometimes hidden talents that highlight your personality.

Photo

Be brave and show yourself, because a good-quality photo will definitely enhance your resume.
